TwakeUp 2009
October 27-31
The "offical" TwakeUp drive is over, but feel free to contribute usig the links below - thanks!
October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This week a group of friends has drawn together to help raise awareness of the fact that breast cancer is treatable and survivable, and to help raise donations to the National Breast Cancer Foundation and other organizations that help educate and save lives.
Breast cancer is the most common cause of cancer in women, and the second most common cause of cancer death in women in the U.S. The American Cancer Society says 1 in 8 women will develop breast cancer at some time in their life. Most of us know a friend or relative whose life has been touched by breast cancer. Thankfully breast cancer survivors are more and more numerous, thanks to the efforts of people and organizations who are raising awareness, facilitating early detection, and providing the healing powers of hope and support.
So this week we'd like you to:
Donate
We've set up a site to make it easy for you to make cash donations here. (Note: due to unanticipated interest, the site may be slow to load; please be patient or return to the site laer.) Donations will go to the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF). Please help us hit (or exceed) our goal of $10,000 in cash donations.
Donate via PayPal by sending money to TwakeUp@clixmarketing.com.
If you'd prefer to donate in a different way, our friends at we-care.com have created this special "online mall" where part of every purchase at your favorite merchants will go to the NBCF. Download their Reminder Plugin for IE or FireFox and all your holiday shopping and travel bookings can support the cause at no cost to you. Do ALL of your holiday shopping now - spend a little extra since it's for a great cause!
If you're outside the United States, here are organizations to which you can donate directly:
Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation
Australian National Breast Cancer Foundation (works for donors in countries outside the U.S.)
Breast Cancer UK
We'll be doing periodic giveaways to buld interest and generate buzz. If you or your company would like to provide giveaways, please email us.
